Hi, I definitely want a VBAC next time around. Some people are telling me to wait THREE YEARS before TTC. We want our kids close together... Do I really have to wait this long?

I don't recall exactly off the top of my head, but I think the recommended gap between births for a VBAC is 24 months. That means 2 years from one birth to the next, so you could probably get pregnant when your LO is 15 months old and be safe. But it's really subjective...some people heal faster than others. I waited 4 years between births for my VBAC, but I have a friend who got pregnant 2 months after her C-section and did fine.

thanks. i could ask my OB but i know i need to lose weight first and i know i want a midwife next time, but my current insurance doesn' cover a midwife. we'll probably switch to DHs insurance next time around because they do cover it. same insurance company, different policies grrr.

I was told 15 months by an old ob 3 years ago.

There was 5 years between my c/s with ds1 and my vbac with ds2 for reasons other than the c/s with ds1.

I was told to have 2 years between deliveries after my first Csection. I tried for a VBAC with my second but it didn't work out. Still very glad I gave it my all though! I am going to schedule a Csection this time around. No Dr will touch me after having 2 Csections and I am not comfortable with the home VBAC route.

I was told "ideally" 2yrs birth to birth... I'm hoping to go just shy of that (DS is 13mths, which would make it 21.5-22mths if I get pg this cycle...

I think it depends how well you heal too.

My first child was C Section then my 2nd was born 23 months later via VBAC, third was born 19 months later via VBAC, 4th was born 21 months later via VBAC. So I guess it really depends mostly upon you and definitely consult your doc. HTH
