Re: Thanksgiving MENU

At my parents' house, we always have:

*antipasto
*turkey
*gravy
*stuffing
*refrigerator mashed potatoes
*green bean casserole
*corn

Then there are always the other things I don't pay attention to because I'm a picky eater and I won't eat them.

Dessert always includes:
*pumpkin pie
*apple pie
*rice krispie squares

Thanksgiving at my parents' house is a gathering of about 25 people, though, so it's no small affair!

Re: Thanksgiving MENU

I *think* this is what I'm cooking... Bram's dad might add some more stuff, I don't know.

turkey
pumpkin pie
cranberry sauce
stuffing
sweet potatoes (just plain "whipped" ones)
rolls
corn
chocolate pie (maybe)
peanut butter cookies
macaroni (I'm making it like they do at Outback because that's the only kind I like)

Re: Thanksgiving MENU

We go to the in-law's every year, but here's the general rundown:

Turkey
Ham
Cornbread Dressing
Bread Dressing
Green Beans
Corn
Mac n Cheese
Veggie Tray
Candied Yams (though I forgot to get the stuff this year, lol)
Mashed Potatoes
Rolls
Brown Gravy (for the ONE child that won't eat any other kind)
Turkey Gravy (for the rest of us)
Baked Beans
and a variety of before dinner snacks and after dinner desserts.

Yes it's alot of food, but as of this year there are now 18 of us that are there with the occassional pop-in guest.

Re: Thanksgiving MENU

I was just going to post this. lol. I was hoping some of you would share your recipes though. This will be my first time cooking (for Thanksgiving, that is).

If I end up having it at my home, this will be my menu:

The usual:
Turkey
Latin rice n beans
Potato salad
Grilled veggies
Corn on the Cob
Pasteles (latin plantain pies) - these are a lot of work, so I may nix them.
Pumkin pie

And this year I'm thinking of adding:
Sweet potatos
Flan for Dessert

Re: Thanksgiving MENU

I found this recipe for sweet potatos, so I'm thinking of trying it out:

You can put this on first and just forget about it and then not have to worry about oven space, and it will prob taste super yummy. Oh, and I was thinking of adding some nuts on top and marshmellows.

INGREDIENTS:
4 to 6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
PREPARATION:
Lightly butter the slow cooker/Crock Pot; add sliced sweet potatoes and sprinkle with salt. Combine sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon; sprinkle over the sweet potatoes. Dot with butter; cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours. Sweet potato recipe serves 4 to 6.
