Re: DD is only awake for 6hrs a day

I'd talk to the Doc, that seems like a lot of sleep. Does the epilepsy take a lot out of her physically? I don't much about that disease. Maybe it's the combo of that plus her normal growth.

Thanks ladies I am a little less worried now about it but it still seems like a lot of sleep.

We are definately going to bring it up to both her docs. Esp. her pediatric neurologist on the 13th.

If it's the meds and her epilepsy we will have to change something again I guess.

I would hate to change her meds again.

Well as far as we can tell she hasn't had any tonic clonic seizures since the first couple of weeks of starting her new meds. BUT she does also have complex partial seizures and those are hard to catch, they don't involve shaking or anything just blanking out it's the beginning stage of the tonic clonic ones or Grand Mal as they used to be called.

So unless you are looking at her when they happen they are hard to catch so I am wondering if she is still having the complex partial and if she could be having them in her sleep.

Both kinds do take a lot out of her and she does tend to sleep after having them.

My first was a sleeper and my second isn't. My 15 month old is barely asleep for 6 hrs a day, so only being awake for 6 hrs a day seems really weird to me...BUT...I do know that kids vary. At one point, I was worried about my first sleeping so much...but he's almost 3 now and he's pretty average. About 10 hrs at night and a 2 hr (3hrs on occasion) nap during the day.
