diabetic recipes?
We have quite a few people coming over for Thanksgiving...one of them being diabetic. I wanted to make sure we have plenty of stuff for her too so I was looking for recipes - mainly dinner roll recipe.
I was under the impression that diabetics can't have ANY sugar....but I saw diabetic recipes with sugar in it? Obviously I know very little about the diabetic diet...can someone enlighten me? lol |

Re: diabetic recipes?
sorry this is such a late reply.......but yes, they can have sugar, just not to much, its best to use splenda or stevia as a sugar substitute though.

Re: diabetic recipes?
This is also late, sorry
but good for future.Diabetics CAN have sugar, but the sugar adds to the total carb count that they are allowed to have per meal/snack. When I was insulin dependant during my pregnancy, I could have 45 total carbs per meal (3 carb choices), so that might mean a small apple, 2TSP salad dressing & a small serving of pasta - which left no room for pumpkin pie LOL! Occasionally I'd forgo the healthy carbs and indulge in a small piece of cake or something though, but never enough to max out my carb intake balanced with the other requirements. I ate a LOT of sugar-free jello because it was a *free* food!
