Has anyone ever had a recipe swap party?

I have several friends that have been talking about this forever and would all like to participate, but none of us can ever figure out the logistics. Any ideas? Here are some thoughts to include: I'd like to have a group of girlfriends over to swap recipes/game night/have some wine....do I assign a type of recipe to each person? i.e. someone brings an appetizer, someone a fave dessert, soup, main dish, etc.? I'm not a detailed person, so organizing something like this makes me break out in hives, but everyone agrees I have the best house for it and it sounds REALLY fun! So, how do I get started organizing it, otherwise, it's never going to happen.

I have never done it but it sounds fun. I think I would just have everyone bring their favorite dish. Who cares if you have 10 desserts and no main course!

I agree with just bringing their favorite recipe... why not just have people let everyone know what type of food they are bringing, so y'all make sure beforehand all the bases are covered without limiting people?
