Re: Solids---please educate me

I've always made at least some of my own (microwave works OK for steaming, too, and canned fruit in its own juice -- peaches and pears-- are good), but this time, my ped. told me that it's better to buy first foods if you're planning on serving them younger than 6 months, because of some of the stuff that gets put into or onto fresh fruits and veggies these days. There are stringent controls on the baby food. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I bought a bunch of Earth's best to use until we hit that 6 month mark.

Re: Solids---please educate me

Thanks, mamas.

I actually have a steamer so I'll likely be using that for part of the process and then either our blender of food processor for the rest. Emily just turned 5 months a few days ago, so I think I'm going to hold her off until 6 months to start her on solids.

I'm actually really not looking forward to the change in poops. I remember it from Taylor---wonderfully easy BF baby poops and then BAM! Nasty smelly poop. Oh well....can't keep their poop young forever.
