This is always a problem. Off topic has every other subject in it because people don't want to use the appropriate forum. Most of the questions in off topic belong in parenting, breastfeeding, news and current events and so on.

And I think if you really want to avoid it, you can. I have been avoiding all of fsot right now cause I don't need to spend any money on fluff. Which also means I don't spend anytime in the fluff chat either.

And lastly, I think being that a major election is just a couple weeks away people have a need to talk about it. I don't agree with the bashing but people do have the freedom of speech and the consequences that goes with that.

Re: Could we possibly...

i dont think its bashing anyone for freedom of speech. but the shutterbug and sens subj forums (among others) are opt in, they are off topic issues? im not sure how making new and cur events is bashing freedom of speech, i think its just keeping the new posts feature cleaner for those of us here for the diapers and parenting.

I use the new posts feature, too, but don't see the News and Current Events posts come up very often. We also do our best to move the political posts out of OT if we see them.

The News and Current events Forum will stay as is for now.

Personally I think you should just NOT READ what does not interest you! I LIKE seeing the political and news section when I click new posts.
