Did you have to have a psych eval before doing foster care or adopting? I thought this was a state thing, but other people in other states don't have to do it. So now I'm wondering if it's specific to my state or maybe even my county. Either way, it's going to cost $160 EACH for my husband and me to have it done. Granted, they will reimburse us once we adopt, but STILL! If it were mandatory across the board, I would understand, but if it's not....

No, but we did have to go through several interviews with a social worker and fill out oodles of paper.
I'm sure laws vary from state to state.

Oh, we've got the oodles of paperwork too. Good grief... some of this stuff I've never talked to anyone about. I mean, there are no dark and dirty secrets, but I feel as if I'm talking to Freud when answering questions about my mother and whether she criticized me or not.

Hmmm, wierd. We don't have to do that. It was mentioned that they have been discussing making it mandatory statewide, but as of now it isn't.

We did not have to do it in the state of Texas! We are adopting through an agency and not through the state! I am a CPS worker and know that you dont have to in the state of texas!

Nope, no psych eval here. We are foster parents who have also adopted through the foster care system.
