Teach me to care for my PUL?

I have PUL covers and wetbags/liners. I hear some say they just wash everything together, and some never do. I hear that I should hang the PUL to dry, and in other places, I read about drying on high to seal the PUL.

How does PUL work? What should I do to care for it properly?

Thanks!

I line dry most of pul and maybe put it in the dryer for 10 minutes to help seal it if needed.

Re: Teach me to care for my PUL?

You can wash the PUL with everything else. You can dry it on the line and seal it once a week in the dryer or you can dry it in the dryer every time.

I've started washing my pail liners separately (or with a load of towels or whites) than diapers because I find they tend to hold some of the soapy water inside and causes problems with my diaper routine.

Re: Teach me to care for my PUL?

I wash my PUL covers and wet bags with my diaper load on hot and hang the covers to dry but dry the wet bags in the dryer on high. Haven't had a problem with either so far.

Re: Teach me to care for my PUL?

Can someone explain why some people suggest drying pul in the dryer. I thought it was always better to line dry things?

PUL was made for the medical industry and can withstand very high heat (higher than your dryer even). It can break down and not work effectively if you don't dry it from time to time. However, drying it every time will not hurt it at all. I wash everything together, then dry everything on high for a full dryer cycle. There are zero crunchy diapers in this house.

Caveat: Do not fold diapers hot out of the dryer. This can cause your elastic to breakdown faster. Throw them on a chair or in a basket until they cool, then fold.
