Re: So..How do you find a ped that is ok w/ delayed vax?
Thanks for all the great info Mamas. I guess sometimes the most obvious answer is the answer. Call and ask!

Re: So..How do you find a ped that is ok w/ delayed vax?
i asked my chiropractor who he used. and then made an appointment to interview her. we are now about an hour from her, but we suck it up and drive. i have tried finding another, but to no avail. i interviewed one who i thought might be decent since he was trained as an osteopath. but, he was a big fat jerk. he told me that i was endangering my children's health by delay vax/no vax. he actually said that there was no evidence to support any benefits of either. i was so stunned that i couldn't even make a good argument. so, i left. and i still drive an hour to my ped. she supports & recommends my decision to delay/no vax. she supports the fact that i don't bring my kids in every time they sniffle. she actually recommends that i take them to the chiro. okay, so sorry i got up on a soap box. the soap box is back under the couch now...LOL. i say ask around. like pp said, maybe find an AP group. or maybe a LLL group. or get out the yellow pages and call til you find one. good luck mama!!

Re: So..How do you find a ped that is ok w/ delayed vax?
I am blessed with my ped. We talk about every decision that is made in regard to their care. She is fine with my declining / selectively vaxing. There are 4 other Drs. in the practice who don't agree with extended BFing, co sleeping, etc. When I told one of them that I made DS' baby food, he said "goldfish crackers and ice cream don't count as homemade baby food". Needless to say, I only see the non-crazy one.
I agree with PP - check with an AP playgroup or a chapter of the LLL to see where everyone else is taking their kids. |

You may also need to check with your insurance and see which Doctors are in your plan - depending on the area and the insurance, you may not HAVE a whole lot of choices, which might make the initial interviewing choices easier...
