did anyone else not ever get used to a MT?

Not that we use it very much (and this may be the problem), but I just can't get comfy in it. I adjust, and adjust - with no change. I only wear it for about 30 mins in Church during worship (I like DD to be in there for that part). I sold my bjorn active on ebay w/cover bc I thought this MT (angelpack) would be so much more comfy, and I planned to use it for the next one also. I just think this thing would seriously swallow a nb - my bjorn just kept DD so compact, and felt more sturdy. This MT seems really big in the body kwim?

Re: did anyone else not ever get used to a MT?

I just traded my MT to a local momma that is a massage therapist. We traded MT for massage/energy work (I haven't gone yet though)

I liked it if I needed to wear her for along time, but it was a pain to put on and take off.

I have two. The first I didn't like at all. It's big, bulky and heavy. I just never got a good fit. Then a I got a new trimmer one and LOVE it. Ds is 2 1/2 now, so I don't use it as much, but when I need it it's perfect. It could be yours is like my first- just not made for you, or it could be you're just not a MT person.

One thing I find is I have to tie the waist strap up high. It gives a much better ride for ds and keeps the strain off my back.

Make sure that when you adjust that you are jumping, actually hopping to get your dc really settled in the carrier. MT's have a bit of a learning curve but should be comfy. You could try tying the straps at your dc's back or under the bum to see if that helps, too...

I really liked mine for front carries but it did take a bit of getting used to and some adjusting to find the "right" way for us to use it. I stopped using MTs when my DD got heavier and when I started wearing her on my back. I never could get comfortable with her on my back in a MT.

I actually prefer my beco which is like the MT concept...except it uses clips instead of long straps and the need to tie. I found that tieing is just too much of a pain; esp. with long straps that trail on the ground when I'm in the parking lot...I MUCH prefer my beco and just clip her to me.

Re: did anyone else not ever get used to a MT?

Maybe it isn't the right MT for you? I have had several that I just hated. They were totally uncomfortable and I couldn't wear them at all. But other mom's just love and rave about them. I have narrowed down to the Kozy and Freehand Mei Tais, I find both to be totally comfortable and I just love them. But of course every carrier isn't right for every mom. Maybe it is just the brand or maybe you just won't like Mei Tais. Is there a NINO group in your area? You could go to a meeting and try out different kinds and get help with your positioning and see if that helps. Some times you can find the same time of help at an LLL meeting if there isn't a NINO in your area.

I liked my wrap much better too. I had a rebozo from www.birthwithsol.com that I really liked as well.

Re: did anyone else not ever get used to a MT?

I didn't like my MT very much. I got a custom Baby Hawk, paid $80 and waited a few weeks to get it.. only to have it arrive and I realized it wasn't for me. Soo I sold it and bought a wrap.
