Re: Strawberries?

I didn't know you were supposed to wait before giving them strawberries. ODS didn't have any till he was about 14 months, anyway and YDS hasn't had any yet.

Re: Strawberries?

Interesting - I think I offered strawberries when DS was 12 mo. and he didn't like them - I offered them last week (14 mo.) and he likes them now.

We go organic on all berries except local blueberries sometimes.

Re: Strawberries?

I just barely stopped my DD (not quite 7 months) from chowing down on a strawberry on Tuesday, at a friend's house. There were two 1-year-old boys there munching away on them quite happily, but I'm trying to be a bit careful. I would have felt weird asking if they were organic.

Next year I'm sure we'll be eating them by the bucket-load.

Re: Strawberries?

I gave my ds (now ten yrs old) his first strawberries at his 1 yr. birthday party. His face broke out in a rash. Later in his life, he was no longer allergic.

Re: Strawberries?

When I went to the ped a few months ago she said, I could give strawberries whenever I wanted, that they will only cause an allergic rash not anything serious.

DD"s been eating them since about 8 months when they came in season. I didn't know they were a high allergen food until after, but she's never had a reaction.
