Juvinile Diabetes???? HELP

My Dh has JD, late onset, he got it in his late 20's. That is how it started. We went out for dinner one night and he drank a whole pitcher of water before our meal was even ordered, the thirst had been going on for days and he was in denial, mostly because we were both trying to loose weight at the time and were trying to drink lots of water. He also lost 10 lbs really quickly. He was also acting more goofy than normal like he had been drinking(alcohol). His sisters and I made him go in to get checked in the morning and he was diagnosed later that day.

His grandmother had late onset too. I am always monitoring my kids drinking and I have tested my youngest a couple of times, so far so good.

I would take your DD in to get checked.

Just to make you feel better..it runs in my family as well and when 9 yo ds was like 4 we had him tested for the very same symptoms..he drank tons and always seemed to be thirsty..he was fine...just a thirsty kid! hope all goes well...

Wow, if she is only 2 it is hard to really see any of those symptoms. You can mention it to your ped too. I was gonna say also they say if urine is really caramel -light brn tone color. It may be hard to see at that age. I hope it is not Diabetes.

I haven't read the other posts, but my mom has diabetes and had me tested at 5yo (excessive drinking & peeing)..and I did not (and still don't) have diabetes. I do still have excessive drinking/peeing though However, my mom said that I need to make sure the ped knows because her sugar doctor (her words) told her that I should (tell the ped). So, I'd say...call the ped and make an appointment...better safe than sorry!
