Unhappy Help, he bit me so hard it bled

My DS has his 2 bottom teeth and it hurts so bad when he bites. He doesn't bite all the time, but today he cut my nipple and it started bleeding, both of us started crying. When he bites, I pull him off and tell him don't bite mama. I just don't know what to do. Now when he starts to latch on I get so nervous and tense. What do you do to stop the biting or ease the pain?

I am sorry mama, teething always scares me, my ds is a year now and has bit a few times, not so much anymore, i would always firmly tell him don't bite that hurts!
he would look at me and eat gently. I believe they do understand. I hope you feel better and know when you scream in pain it scares them so they will cry too, just tell him don't bite that hurts me. Hope he stops for you mama, mine hasn't bit in a while.

Oh man, this is like my worst fear. Caden is 10 month old and is just now finally cutting his first tooth. I cant see it but I cant FEEL IT> He GNAWS ON ME!

I'm terrified of the day he bites me. I almost wish he had teeth earlier so he wouldnt be as aware of them. He totally knows about his tooth and is completely obsessed with it, so he "uses" it every chance he gets LOL!

Re: Help, he bit me so hard it bled

We are going through this right now. I always keep my hand close to or on the back of his head and when he goes to bite down I pull him in towards my breast to break the suction and get him to release. He usually will stop. If he does not them I will end the nursing session (he is usually just playing and not eating at that time) if he still seems hungry than I try it again. good luck!

When they are biting they are no longer eating so session over. My twins have bit me. I still get tense sometimes. They are 9 months old and have 8 teeth each!

Re: Help, he bit me so hard it bled

I'm going to watch this thread for replies. I'm going through the same thing with my almost 8 month old except he's biting every time he nurses. He hasn't actually broken the skin but my nips are sore and I cringe every time I sit down to nurse now

Both of my kiddos went through this phase. With my daughter all it took was one time of me yelling OUCH (she really caught me off guard) we were both shocked, and that was it. My son went thought the same thing when he was about 12 months old. He would bite at almost every session. I just took him off the boob, biting = no milkies. It lasted about a month, it really pushed me to my limits but he did eventually stop and has not done it since, he's now 16 months. Good luck I really think he will grow out of it.

Re: Help, he bit me so hard it bled

I might get flamed for this but it worked for us... When DD finally got her first tooth at 9-10 months or so, she bit me, so I took her off, used my finger to kind of "slap" her cheek and then firmly said "no" while pointing my finger at her. Then I put her back on again. If she was more dragging her teeth, not actually biting, then I just took her off b/c she was obviously finished or not devoted to the task at hand Either way, she only actually bit me twice.
