Polyurethane in mattresses?
Okay, mattress gurus, I need more help. I've found a $600 twin mattress that's latex with a polyurethane layer at the bottom. Pure latex around here is more like $1200, which I reeeeally don't want to spend.... I'm not sure I want to spend $600 either, for a toddler!
I've also seen $150 mattresses without vinyl; I've asked the clerk to call the manufacturer and ask what the polyester/polyurethane content is. How bad is the polyester/polyurethane, really? If there are no pthalates, is that good enough? Too many issues, too many choices....

Re: Polyurethane in mattresses?
mama i wish i knew. Go try in the Green Families thread. One mama put up a thread about Latex Mattress, and I put up one about Green Nursery and Baby Gear. I too know what you mean so expensive. Im hoping to get one for baby to be, dd, and eventually us.
