Re: Toddler beds??

That's very true. The toddler bed is a lot closer to the ground!

I worry about that too. We're planning on putting a gate up to his room so he can't wander around the house if he gets up, but I'm expecting him to wake up a few times in the new bed and I hope he'll settle himself like he does in his crib. I'm so nervous about this!

I'd say now is a great time to transition, especially if he's playing Houdini!
Did she wake up during the night after you moved her or did she care? I hope Riley loves the big bed.

It's been an adjustment for us. We've only recently started getting back to a routine and it's been about 5 weeks since we switched her to the bed. She does play in her bed when she wakes up, though, until we're ready to come get her. It helps that she sleeps with a few of her favorite stuffed animals and her baby.

ETA: Amazingly, we did not have problems with her waking up during the night since the transition. It's just taken longer to get her to go to sleep. I think part of the problem is that I suddenly started lying down with her til she went to sleep, which is not something we did before, so it was a bit of a novelty for her and possibly was keeping her up longer. Now that she's more secure with the arrangement, she's back to falling asleep on her own in bed.

I KWYM! I was terrified the first few nights with both my kiddos, but you just get used to it and they do too....one trick Ive learned is to tuck the blankets in under the mattress on the open side of the bed, that way they are less likely to roll off that way

Re: Toddler beds??

we started out with the mattress on the floor and stuffed animals around it...we didn't have a rail at the time, so this worked for getting him used to his big boy bed, and then once he wasn't falling off of it anymore, we put the rest of it together and it's been fine...we are getting ready to do it with ds2 in the next few mos and see how it works again!

Re: Toddler beds??

Gracie is 2 1/2 and shes been in a toddler bed since her birthday. but I wish I had gotten her a twin bed. I regret the toddler bed every day that she wants me to lay down with her to cuddle
