Solids and Poo

I think this is where I should post this...
My dd just had her first poo since starting solids (squash). Instead of it being a yogurt consistency, it's more the consistency of pudding. (maybe TMI). I have been just putting the whole diaper in the washer-no pre rinse over the toilet. Should I start doing that now? It seems as though I should do something, but maybe not. This is new territory for me. Help!! THX!

Re: Solids and Poo

Mine recently started solids as well. I don't pre-rinse/use a diaper sprayer. I know that some people do, but I don't.

I just toss the whole thing in the pail and wash as usual. Never had a problem.

The biggest effort I make to get poo off a diaper is when it is solid enough to just shake off into the toilet. (And at the age my DS is, that isn't happening anytime soon!)

Re: Solids and Poo

I think when most babies start solids is when parents start rinsing diapers. It's not quite a necessity, because your dd's diet is probably only a little bit of solids. But you'll find over time that the poop won't rinse off as well. Then it's time to start rinsing.

I hope that helps! Have fun with solids!
