Posting the same thing in more than one place

Hi, I was wondering if we're allowed to post the same post in more than one place here.

For example, posting the same things for sale in 2 areas of FSOT.

Or a post asking for advice or something, in 2 areas (say parenting and off-topic).

Re: FSOT, the only time that posting the same thing in multiple categories is OK is if the item legitimately fits into more than one category, and each post must have all the info in it (i.e. not just a link to the first post).

As for an advice post in the chat areas, for your example, we ask that Parenting posts stay in Parenting or Kitchen posts stay In The Kitchen, etc. Some of those minor forums are a little unused, but only b/c Off Topic sometimes gets "diluted" w/ stuff that really isn't Off Topic at all.
