Re: malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today.

Wow... Ok, I don't check this board that often, but saw the subject and had to look because I too have had something try and install itself on my computer awhile back while on here. I thought this site would be safe, so I figured it was probably not related...I am a bit concerned that there was no warning issued, yet I am getting spam emails from here about a contest.

I think that the girl is just an annoying ad. I've seen it on other sites too.

Re: malicious software trying to install on my computer while surfing on DS 2x today.

If you need to clean up your computer, use these steps from Spywarehammer.com. A bunch of computer geeks helping people with computer problems. I had to go there once for a particularly nasty infection I got (not from here). If you feel more comfortable, go directly to the site for help. Great site and you can save your money rather than taking your computer in for repairs. Just a suggestion, hope it helps.

1. Take out the trash (temporary files & temporary internet files)
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune, saving it to your desktop. It is used to cleanout temporary files & temp areas used by internet browsers.
Start ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

Under Main choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser, do this also:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All

Click the Empty Selected button.

NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
ATF-Cleaner should be run per the above in every user-login account {User Profile}

For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

2. Download and save Combofix. Go to this site and download from one of the links on page (100% SAFE!!) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Run ComboFix after ATF Cleaner.

3. ( My tip: Always run anti virus, malware, adware programs in SAFEMODE) Please download & save Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe or
http://malwarebytes.gt500.org/mbam.jsp

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL Scan, then click Scan.

* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

I'm so OVER this stupid spyware. WHY can't this be fixed? I'm just not coming back until this is fixed.....It's not worth having to replace my computer.

Can you describe what exactly is happening? And would it be possible to take a screen shot to see what ads were on your screen when this happened?

Thanks!

oh no...I thought this was taken care of! I'm not sure I'm going to hang around here anymore if it's still going on!

I had to REPLACE the hard drive in my laptop AND on my desktop, RELOAD Windows (thus I lost all the data I had on both computers)!!!!

BEWARE!
