fat and calcium
I have a friend who just weaned her 14 month old. The baby refuses to drink milk (cows milk as well as soy) and dairy. She is feeding her lots of broccoli for calcium but is at a loss for a source of good fat. She says that her daughter will eat avocados but she would like to branch out beyond chicken, broccoli, and avocados. Any suggestions?

Re: fat and calcium
My first recommendation is to get that kid back on breastmilk!
But if she won't, then leafy greens, sea veggies, beans, nuts/seeds & whole grains are good foods to include. There are also yogurts, fortified juices & other fortified foods that would increase calcium. For healthy fats: coconut milk smoothies & yogurts, avocado, nut butters (if no family history of allergy), milled flax seeds added to oatmeal, pasta sauce, etc, olive oil, hummus, Sunflower Burgers, creamy soups, hemp milk.
