The mobile just fell on the baby!

He's fine, no thanks to the manufacturer. I can't believe it -- not one of these light plush and string things, but a heavy molded plastic Sassy one. OK, it's 4 years old and has seen a lot of use, but the screw literally sheared off and the mobile dropped right on top of him as he was watching it. I'm going to contact them and let them know.

Eek! I'm glad he's okay - and I'm glad you got him beofre he got hurt.

I actually know of someone whose child was strangled and died in their mobile. I am so glad you had a happier ending.

Poor baby.
I have a sassy one with a remote control, I'll have to check it's still safe before using it for any more babues, it's been in use for a few years too.

How completely horrible! That poor family. I emailed the corporation and the CPSC (consumer product safety commission). We'll see what happens. This is the one with the remote (Music in Motion), so be careful!

Re: The mobile just fell on the baby!

if it is 4 yrs old it is possible it may have been recalled? I remember a while back getting an email about a recalled mobile but can't remember which one.

I'm glad your lil one is ok. The CPSC will help you for sure!

I called them 2 years ago when a bedrail of mine was deffective and my son almost strangled himself between the rail and the bed due to a defect. They did a full report and inspection of the item at my home including pictures. They had lots of simular complaints, but I don't believe the rail was recalled.....however we broke and cut ours up and threw it away so no one could get hurt from it again.

Ooh...scary!
I was just telling DH to remove ours--remembering the suggestion to remove it once DC can pull themselves up (meaning they can pull down the mobile.) DD's def. past that point, so this is a good kick in the butt to go do it. Thx!
