climbing
14-month-old DD is climbing EVERYTHING. YEsterday we discovered that she had climbed a chair and onto the windowsill, and was standing on the windowsill banging on the glass. Later that afternoon, after having moved the chair away from the window, we discovered she had climbed a chair and had now put herself over the baby gate (that gates off the computer's alcove). This morning, I found her with one leg over the safety rail in our bed. Holy cripey!
We don't have stairs in our 2-bedroom apartment. I guess we have to spend an hour a day somewhere where there are stairs to let her get climbing out of her system. My question -- how long does this stage last? I'm exhausted already!

Re: climbing
I know how you feel, mama, DS is a lil billy goat aswell and started with ~13mo. He's now 17 mo. and so far I can only say it got 'worse', i.e. he's become more and more daring... *sigh*
DD was never a climber like that so I can't tell you how long it'll last.. Having a boy I'm almost afraid it might never end.. (Climbing on trees etc., kwim?)

Re: climbing
20 almost 21 months here and climbing is still going strong. she is skimming things now. (skimming the side of the cabinets to get on top of the counters) she regularly climbs on top of the table.

Re: climbing
DD started that at about 11 months, basically as soon as she could walk, and is now 18 months and going strong! She will push the kitchen chairs to wherever she wants to climb onto and then get up on the counters or wherever..it is exhausting I agree! She is often found in the middle of the kitchen table....she is so fast!

Re: climbing
I think once an active kid, always an active kid. Avery doesn't necessarily climb on everything but she never walks, always runing, skipping, etc. She looks like one of those lizards that runs on water. How about a mommy and me gym class? We had a small slide (little tykes, maybe) in our living room for the longest time. Now we've upgraded to a small excercise trampoline.

Re: climbing
My DD is 13 mos and she is a climber too! She'll climb anything she can--and she cant even walk yet!! But she can get up on the furniture, coffee tables, etc.
She LOVES to climb the stairs too. She would climb all day if I let her.

Re: climbing
Dd will be 2 in Feb and is still going strong-my kitchen chairs are all laying under the table and she's in a play pen off and on during the day-I couldn't take it any more. She will climb on anything and everything and then do the screaming maniac thing when I take her down or if she's ont he kitchen table and see's me coming she'll turn around and try to run away from me-you think after she ran off the table a few times she'd learn. I've gotten really good at sneaking up on her. For some reason up until last night she hasn't tried to climb out of her crib. I caught her with her foot up on the rail when I went in to see why she was still up. Good Luck.........this seems to last for a while.
