PG and milk is decreasing
I am 15 weeks with #6 and have a 9 month old. My milk is decreasing and I am not sure what to give her. She eats most anything solid, but I know she needs more liquid. I do not want to give her formula!! I am not against cow's milk, but I think she is too little for that right now. What about soy milk? I go to the dr tomorrow and I can ask him, but I have a feeling he will say to go to formula. I don't know though-he may surprise me. Please let me know what you know. I didn't find anything online about it.
Thand you for your thoughts. Nicole |

Re: PG and milk is decreasing
Have you tried more milk for two? http://www.motherlove.com/product_mo..._glycerite.php
I've heard great successes with it. I use the More Milk Plus when my supply dips due to illness or whatev Best wishes to you.

Re: PG and milk is decreasing
9 months is pretty early to start cow milk or soy, IMO. i know the idea of formula sux, but it is less likely to cause an allergic reaction than milk or soy and does have extra stuff to make it nutritionally better for babies. to some extent, too, it depends on if there's any food allergies in your or DH's family. i was a lunatic about waiting to introduce stuff that was a potential allergen because my dad is allergic to *everything* and i didn't want my kids to have to live like that.
if you think it's just a matter of hydration, though, and that she can get her nutrition from solid foods and what breast milk she is getting, then i'd just offer lots and lots of water (add a splash of juice if you need to to get her interested). fwiw, i tried *everything* to boost my supply, and nothing worked. of course, my DD was about 18 or 19 months when my supply went south, so i wasn't worried about supplementing. but i also know some people who had no dip in supply whatsoever, and many who had a little dip but maintained supply throughout. you know your baby better than anyone, so if your gut is telling you she's not getting enough, then she's probably not. |

Re: PG and milk is decreasing
For me at least, I just nursed all the time to make up for supply. Around 6months it dropped off pretty bad, but they still nursed like mad.

Re: PG and milk is decreasing
I am still nursing my 26 month old and I am 12 weeks pregnant. I have noticed I certanly need to drink more than 8 glasses of liquid a day and eat more now since I am feeding two babies!
I would try oatmeal and the other mama's suggestions but I hope your supply does not get too low. Hugs mama.

Thank you so much for all of your help!! I think she will be fine-not too much longer and I can start her on something. I know I need to drink more water! UGH those diet cokes just taste too good right now!!

Re: PG and milk is decreasing
Disclaimer- I've not talked to my pediatrician about this, and it specifically says on the box "do not use as formula" but I've given my (7 month old) son rice milk on occasion. I don't make a habit out of it, but it's worked in a pinch.
I don't know why you don't want to go the formula route, but Earth's Best does make one that's organic and not half corn syrup solids.
