I'm discreet but I do it... how can I not? When my dd gets hungry I've GOT to feed her! And since we aren't really on a schedule or anything, it happens whenever.

Now that Max is getting older (soon 6mo) he is starting to not like the Peanut Shell cover. It is getting harder to be descrete. I need to get in the mindset that if people get offended by nip, they shouldnt look!

I answered "Yes, openly and proudly!" because I don't worry about being discrete... but I also don't rub others noses in it either...

I voted yes but discreetly. I don't try to hide the fact that I'm nursing- I just use a cover when I do. My DS is such a busy body that if I didn't he would be more worried about what's going on around him than eating.

Re: Do You Nurse in Public?

YES - whenever ds is hungry. I would much rather have a happy baby than a hungry one

One of the best times was at my mother's b-day at a restaurant. The staff brought her b-day cake w/candles & sang right next to me while bfing in a crowded restaurant. I just starred at them all proudly. Interesting enough dh right across from me didn't even know I was feeding ds until I mentoined how funny it was the next day - I guess that was discreet? lol.

Re: Do You Nurse in Public?

I didn't start nip until ds was 2 or 3 months old... at the beginning it's so hard just to figure out how to get lo on the boob, not to mention trying to be discreet but once we got the hang of it we did until ds weaned a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping it'll be a little easier this time around since I know what to do/expect?

Re: Do You Nurse in Public?

We did but stopped past a certain age. We mostly don't NIP now because he drinks other liquids (water mostly, but sometimes he'll have a little cow's milk) while we're out, so there's no need. I don't have nursing tanks and whatnot either and he wouldn't allow for a cover, so I wouldn't know how else to do it without being open about it.

Re: Do You Nurse in Public?

I'm more worried about the muffin top too! Ha! I nurse wherever I have to and have been met with more kind smiles and "aahhh's" than negative remarks. The area in Canada where I live is pretty progressive that way...There are signs in bus shelters and in the malls about NIP acceptance, and it's great! The only time I worry is when I'm with my inlaws at say, a restaurant because NIP makes my FIL nervous!
BTW, I nursed my 2 week old DS on a hayride in a sling - it was my first NIP experience!
