How do i freeze fruit?

How long does they last? Silly question I am sure. they are having a great deal on strawberries and blueberries and my boys love them but they go bad quickly. Do I just wash and trim the berries and put them in ziploc bags? Are they mushy after? Thanks

With pretty much any fruit, I put them on a cookie sheet with edges then put it in the freezer til they're frozen, then put them in ziplocs. I never have any luck just sticking them in bags...it seems like they always stick together in big chunks. Hope that helps! They aren't mushy afterwards so don't worry...they're yummy! Have fun!

Re: How do i freeze fruit?

I like to wash and cut up my strawberries. Then I put them in the baggies to freeze. I use these later to make strawberry sauces for pancakes or to put in yogurt. This works real well for almost-too-ripe strawberries or winter ones that aren't quite as flavorful/sweet.

If you want to go "freeze fancy" Alton Brown has a freezing process that uses dry ice. I think you can find it on Food Network.

This method is referred to "rattle packing". I use it for berries of all kinds. I also use it for cooking up chunks of sweet potato and then freeze those like that - my kiddo loves anything frozen.
