I love my Ball Blue Book as a general reference for canning. It totally spells everything out, which I love! It also has a section on dehydrating, which is good too.

this year (and any other until we can get a greenhouse) we'll just be doing early-fruiting cherry tomatoes in a basket and greens/green beans (maybe bush zucchini) in barrels. We're in a roughly zone 3 area and not much grows veggie-wise. *SIGH*
