Why is it hurting now?

I've been nursing now for 15 and a half months. In the beginning it hurt a little as my body got used to it but it hasn't since about 6 weeks pp. Recently, I swear my dd has turned into a wolverine though. Not that she bites me but she has a full mouth of teeth 18 total now. I can feel them scraping and have to pry myself loose as she always has a deathgrip suction on em. When she's done, my nipples are on fire. I've never had this issue...so I'm not sure what's going on

Her latch has changed because she has all those teeth In time your body will get used to them, or she'll wean LOL With my older dd, she latched on so hard she would leave indentions in my aureola from her top teeth, but within a week or two I got used to it and they didn't hurt any more.

Yeah, I do have indentations when she's done....she's also hitting another growth spurt and nursing about 4 times a night now...which is a lot more than she was before

Re: Why is it hurting now?

Try those gel pads like they sell for burns. I bought some of the Soothie brand ones, but they are super-expensive....I found myself thinking, "Does this hurt badly enough to justify $5 a boob?" Try the burn pads, I think they are the same thing and they're cheaper. Pop 'em in the freezer for instant relief. (The gel pads, not the...oh, well!)

Seriously, I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Why is it hurting now?

yep, you're either ovulating or preggo. If it goes away, your ovulating, if not, you're preggo. It feels like scraping teeth. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does to some and it did to me!
