What would you charge/pay......

I am thinking of caring for my new nephew when my sister goes back to work. I told her I could watch him 2-3 days per week. He will be 3 months when she goes back to work. I don't want to charge her too much since she is my sister but it it will be alot of work esp. if we get pg right away when we start ttc.
I plan on just keeping cloth here for him (he wears cloth at home too) so she does not need to worry about laundry or packing enough for when he is here.
I have NO idea what would normally be charged....

Call around to the daycare centers in your area. Ask questions like you're a potential client. You can find out the amount that is average and charge a little less. HTH

Yeah- you kind of need to call around since rates are VERY different depending on where you live. Here in the northeast a home daycare asks around $225 a week for an infant. Centers charge more. I have seen amounts anywhere from $245 to $340 a week depending on the center and the location.

I have a feeling the numbers are much lower where you live though. It seems the cost of living in your area of the country is much less.

When my sister watched my DD (then 3 months old) for me, I paid her $20/ day.

I pay 30/day to a non relative sitter so maybe just charge 20-25/day to your sister or less if you want.

Personally, I'd also take into account what your sister is making, if she's making minimum wage anything over $30 is going to be over half her income which might make working pointless to her kwim?
