That's right...for fraternal anyway. It's the woman's ability to release 2 eggs for fertilization. Identical are just by chance & have nothing to do with genetics.

Mine are completely spontaneous. My grandmother is a twin, but she is an ID twin which is not genetic.

That is so amazing! I am smiling so big right now. You just made my day.

And I forgot all about the BMI, too.

So we have in no particular order...
family genetics (woman's lineage for fraternals)
BMI over 30
Age over 34
4+ previous deliveries
fertility meds and treatments
previous delivery of multiples
conceive while nursing
conceive while on the pill

What else?

Re: Many + Multiples

We have 11 kids and are expecting number 12. We have 2 sets of twins after 7 singleton pregnancies. I think for us its pretty much alot of things, number of pregnancies, age , and family history. The first set I was on clomid though as well due to a previous MC at 12 weeks my body stopped ovulating for almost a year. It was the lowest dose possibly and the dr said its never given anyone multiples that hes prescribed the dose to. With the second set, even the specialist said the clomid was not even a factor although I was on it the first time.

IF treatments here. We used injectables/IUI to conceive our twins.

Re: Many + Multiples

My first set of twins were conceived when I was 27 and were my second pg (first was a m/c). I wasn't on birth control but I was 220 lbs when I got pg. This set of twins, I was 34 when I conceived and 291 pounds. My YDD (14.5 months old at the time) self-weaned 4 days after I o'd. I have no family history (my mom's mom did a family tree) except for one set of twins in the early 1800's. This is my 4th pg (m/c, fraternal girl twins, singleton DD, and now girl/boy twins). I'm average height so that didn't factor in. HTH!

I chose other because I have one 2nd cousin that had fraternal twins.

I wasn't taking any fertility drugs, it wasnt with IVF.
I was only 16 when they were conceived.
No previous pregnancies.
I wasn't nursing lol

IVF

Hoping for more twins as we still have frozen babies and I want them all to survive.
