Re: What will/do you do for school??

Well my son was almost expelled from a private school so good luck getting him in one of those. He refuses, absolutely refuses to listen to me when I try to teach him basic stuff at home, so he's getting on the bus next year to go to public school. There are great programs here and since I learned all the laws (I was in school to be a teacher) that I had no idea existed, I found out about a lot of different resources my DS is entitled to, and I will be using everyone I can.

I am hoping to form a homeschooling group and coop of the schooling with them.
ooooo...I want that, too.

Right now my 3.5yo is in public preschool, and while she has fun (mostly) already I am seeing the issues I was concerned with from public schools. Not sure if she'll be going back next fall.

Re: What will/do you do for school??

I also didn't vote because I'm anguishing over the decision already (DD won't be eligible for public kindergarten for another year and a half). The reason for the anguish is that my DD is gifted - I believe possibly even highly gifted. We haven't had her evaluated, but it is pretty evident to most people even outside of our family. Anyway, she really wants to go to school (talks about it all the time), but I am fearful that if she doesn't get the necessary stimulation/challenge that she'll get bored and act out (I've seen her do this at her dance classes, and in Sunday School classes). Our public school system doesn't start a gifted/talented program until half way through 1st grade. There is a private school for gifted kids in the area, but WAAAAY out of our budget. I have really wanted to homeschool, but am learning that DD and I are WAAAAAY too much alike in temperment, and we clash over things. I just don't know what to do...

I voted public. In reality I believe that will be my only choice.

OH how I would looove to homeschool. As a single parent I do not see how it will be possible though with the fact I will need to work. Makes me sad though actually

I was blessed to have good teachers growing up though the system is far from perfect. I so hope we have good luck with him... if not, we'll move to a better district I imagine.

Re: What will/do you do for school??

I am a public school teacher who believes that homeschooling is the best.

I have always wanted to homeschool- even before I had my ds. Don't know if I'll be able to though. I am working FT right now - carrying our insurance (dh is self employed) and retirement and all that. We are TTC #2 and I am hoping with 2 kids- working and paying for daycare will just be too much! LOL (don't tell dh about my evil plan!)

If I can't homeschool then I will be looking at private school along the lines of Montessori. I'd like to learn more about Waldorf- though I am not sure there is anything like that in our area.

The boys are in public school right now. I considered home schooling if their grades keep doing what they are doing...it was much better in NV than here.
