I think of girl, just because the only person I've ever heard of with it is Brooke Shields daughter

I think of it as a GN name. I loved the name in the Book "The Rowan" the character Rowan was female however she was a very stong person and held a masculine name very well and if I remember correctly Rowan was her last name.

I know a girl Rowan but my hubby thinks the name is very boyish. My son is named Rowan.
I was thinking the opposite. Rowan for a girl and Rowen for a boy

I automatically thought boy, but it could be GN, really.

DH and I are naming our expected boy Rowen.
We're both of Irish descent and feel the name is kinda gn, but we love it for our little boy.

Re: Curious about this name...

Gender neutral. I know both a girl and a boy named Rowan.

I automatically thought boy when I saw it. But sounds great for a girls name.
