I'm not a huge fan of CIO either, but seriously, if that's what it takes to make everyone healthy and happy, including your baby who is probably also suffering from lack of sleep, then so be it!

I agree. I am also not a fan of it, but I have two daycare kids that we did this with, and it worked in less than a week. We did it for nap and nigtht time.

I did cry it out. (scream until your head explodes) recently, and it was AWFUL!!!! But, it took one day. Seriously, one day, and now she sleeps fine. I have absolutely no idea why it worked. It shouldn't have, but it did.

Re: Please help me, lack of sleep is killing us...

Thank you Mamas. He's still sleeping like crap. And now today he didn't even nap. He just kept laughing and saying "no no" when I'd say "no leif, its night night".

DH wants to start sleep training on Friday. I googled the ferber method and decided to do the Parental Extinction method. For us right now, I need him in our room. We don't have room for him to be in his own room (we have to sell a bunch of stuff) and I like having my boys with me.

I'm excited (I know that sounds so bad) to try this because I think we'll ALL be better off sleeping. He can't be happy not sleeping, ya know? I'm so scared for doing it. Last time we tried he was hyperventilating after 4 minutes so we picked him up. We were in the room with him then too. I think we'll just do it.

I'm so scared but extremely hopeful. I keep snapping at both the boys and even said the f word to DS1 today I need sleep.

My first was so easy. He slept through the night at 3 months, then we moved him into his own bed at 18 months by just saying "you're in your own bed now" and he was all "okay" and that was it. Now he lays in his race car bed, and sleeps. That's it.

I really am upset because all of this is making DH not want anymore kids. He'd promised me 1 more, and I was going to talk him into 2 more, but now he's saying he doubts he could handle 1 more with these issues. AND I cant get pregnant again until he's sleeping well. And I wanted to get pregnant in a few months
This is my story exactly!!! DS was/ is such a great sleeper (even though he dropped his nap @ like 26MO.!) DD refuses to sleep at night unless she has my boob in her mouth. I wouldn't mind co-sleeping her if she would actually SLEEP, and my body HURTS!! like sore hips and shoulders from side sleeping... DH was always the "huge" family cheer-leader but right now he's like ummm?
And she is a seriously persistent crier, no make that screamer... she SCREAMS! it's awful. The tool I've been using to cope is to imagine her as a teen, all grown up and wanting nothing to do with me... It makes her baby needs a little less stressful... Someday, someday she will sleep...
As far as your original question, I haven't tried the "gentle removal" yet, I have to get that book again...

Our DS finally slept better once we did minor CIO and put him in his own room with a sound machine. I know you want to keep them close so is your closet big enough to put his bed in there?

I'm not sure if it is or not. I'll have DH measure.

I'm so nervous. I have him napping in my bed now. I want DH to put batteries in his aquarium first.
