Re: moms of preemies or really anyone, babies birthweight now and at/around a yr?

ds#1 was born at 36 weeks and weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and was 18.5 in long
at a year he weighed 18.5, i don't remember how long he was though. i know he was in the 9th for weight and 10th for height. to add to that the circumference of his head was in the 75th lol, i used to go around wondering why all these kids had these super tiny little heads haha. turned out aj just had a huge one!!!! he's still small now (he is now 4), i don't know how much he weighs or his height though. last time he was weighed was about 6 months ago and he weighed 29 lbs, i'd guess him at about 32 now
ds#2 was born at 36 weeks and weighed 7lbs 4 oz and was 19.5 in long. at a year he weighed 17.5 and i don't remember his height either though, i think he was in the 15th for height. he is also still small (will be 3 in june), he weighs 28 lbs FINALLY. he stayed at 23 lbs for a year, in a matter of 4 months he gained 5 lbs!

basically all kids grow different. the "norm" is for them to have tripled their birth weight by a year of age. my oldest did that pretty much, the youngest definately did NOT. even their feet were always teeny, at a year my oldest ds was wearing a size 2 (that's basically a 3-6month shoe) infant shoe perfectly. now at 4 he wears a 7 finally! which is still super teeny!

Cal was 36 weeks & 9-2. He was a premmie for sure because his ears were not developed fully and his brother & sister were much bigger than that.

At one year he was about 25lbs, at 2 30lbs, but very trim. He still fits in mediums.

Re: moms of preemies or really anyone, babies birthweight now and at/around a yr?

I find it interesting how babies/kids grow. I have three and they're all different.

Gabbi - born at 38 weeks, 9 lbs. She was 19 lbs @ a year, now at 7 she weighs 54 lbs.

Madelyn - born at 36 weeks, 9 lb 11 oz. (diabetic mommy, we are SO thankful she didn't go to term ) She was *almost* 15 lbs @ one year, now at 5 she weighs 27 lbs. (She does have some health issues.)

Brendan - born at 37 weeks, 7 lb 6 oz (and yep, to me he looked like HALF of a baby! LOL) Diabetic mommy took LOADS of insulin with him, made a huge difference. Now at 9 mo, he's about 17-18 lbs. I expect he will outgrow his sister by the time he's 18 mo.

It's so funny to have a chunky baby after the girls, who were so skinny by the time they were his age.

I love threads like this!

Born at 32 weeks
6 lbs, 3 1/2 oz, 18 in
Almost 10 mos
25 lbs, 1 oz, 30 in
My little guy's finally started to crawl (was perfectly content "cruising") so I'm thinking he'll lose a bit soon-hopefully he doesn't slide back into medium dipes since I sold 'em all!

My premie, Ryleigh Grace, was born at 30wks weighing 3lbs 14oz. I'd have to look it up to give the exact # but she was almost 20lbs at 1yr. She is now 3yrs and weighs 30lbs. You'd never know she was early by looking at her 'cept for that big ol premie head

Her older sister was full term and weighed 6lbs 8oz at birth and now at 5yrs is only 7lbs heavier!
