How to Wake her to Nurse and Biiiig spit ups
When we are out, and DD (newborn) is in a wrap, I can NOT wake her to nurse, no matter how long it has been since she has eaten (I don't let her go any longer than 2-3hrs). I don't know what to do. It is so frustrating to me and then she is starving by the time we do get home. She will fuss and eat the rest of the day and then at night has a huge spit up/vomit. I tried cold water and taking her out of the wrap. Any other ideas?

Re: How to Wake her to Nurse and Biiiig spit ups
Have you tried taking her out of the wrap and moving her around? Making sure she stays up then maybe just sit and nurse her? Tried stipping her down to maybe a onsie and socks?
She's probably just way to warm and comfy in there and just wants to sleep! |

Re: How to Wake her to Nurse and Biiiig spit ups
some things that we tried at that teeny tiny age were: going into a lighted room (but not TOO bright bc then they keep their eyes closed!), stripping down to minimal clothes, talking to him, blowing a little on his face, tickling his feet, his back, his head, expressing a little milk on his lips/mouth. if it was a matter of him falling asleep while latched on, i would compress the breast a little to give him a squirt and that would usually get his attention and start him swallowing again.

Re: How to Wake her to Nurse and Biiiig spit ups
DD was the exact same way. I had to do some more time out of the wrap until she got just a bit bigger and use the ring sling. She just got so comfy in the wrap with my body temp and would snooze the day away. Other things were stripping her down to just her dipe, a lukewarm washcloth on her back, switching breasts frequently. In the midst of it, I felt like she was never going to wake up and eat without me waking her but eventually she did. Hang in there mama.

I never woke my son to eat unless it was 4+ hours since last nursing.
