Re: Ugg!! When does this get better?

Amanda.

The hot and heavy feeling is standard for an engorged breast. It doesn't really sound clogged or otherwise. It's just an overstimulated and overproducing Mommy milk factory. It's so funny (not really funny ha ha more funny sad) but my overproducer is acting up today too - must be sympathy or something.

Despite what anyone else says, a day or two of block feeding (only feeding off that side every 4ish hours or so) and cold compresses will get you over this rough patch though it won't be a picnic in the meantime. Any stimulation you give that side - whether it be a little expression or warm cloth massages will compound the problem. I can cause my right side to letdown and engorge just by adjusting my shirt. This is despite what anyone will say about it not stimulating ducts or whatever. Sometimes, in the real world, a breast can be that sensitive.

GL and hang in there. This too shall pass.

Oh, one more thing. Do ensure that you massage the breast to work out any potential clog spots when it is that breast's turn and LO is nursing off it.
