Question about caring for wool...

I am new to wool.. and I have a soaker on the way. I was wondering about caring for wool in general? Do you any of you have a certain way that works for you?? I know you dont have to wash them everytime you use them but I am not familiar with lanolizing and all of that stuff?? I am sure these questions are asked all of the time, but I could not find any posts. Thanks for reading!
