My Mood:
can I freeze beans/lentils and sauces in canning jars?

I want to freeze cooked beans, lentils, and sauces without using plastic bags or containers. Can I use canning jars, with the two-piece lids, for this if I allow space for the stuff to expand in the jar? I can get the regular jars locally but not the plastic lids that you can get to go on them. Has anyone done this? Does it work? Does the top get freezer burn?
