Homemade baby food making mamas...

What do (or did) you make for your 9 month old? So far, I've made pureed:

bananas
pears
peaches
apricots
blueberries
plums
green beans
peas
squash
sweet potatoes
carrots
applesauce
avocado

And I just added boiled chicken last night.

He's not too crazy about veggies but I still keep trying. I need ideas (and yes, I've checked out wholemadefood or whatever that site is).

Well, your list is longer than mine , so I can't offer much assistance! You could try adding pumpkin, if you don't object to the canned stuff. That's the only thing I feed DS that isn't on your list. (Just buy a can of 100% pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie filling, and you don't have to do anything else to it!)

I've done all of those except for the chicken, plus oatmeal and broccoli. Oh, and hummus. My son also seems to like the sticky rice from the outside of my California rolls.

If he is 9 months are you able to do foods w/ more texture? With my first ds we made a stew with Chicken, potatoes, carrots, celery, brown rice in a crock pot (no salt added) then blended it. This has a bit more texture but we found that we could get Keegan to eat more veggies if we did it this way.

Also you can try veggies w/ fruits. Sounds weird I know but babies are really o.k. with it. We did applesauce with greenbeans. And peas with sweet potatoes. We did more, but I'm not remembering.

Also, you could do eggyolks, but not eggwhites.

Re: Homemade baby food making mamas...

you've got a lot longer list than I ever made w/DD . When she was 9 months I started giving her finger foods that were cooked to death . I cooked black and pinto beans in a crock pot with only water, and these were her absolute favorites! This helped her be more independent, and I didn't have to feed her after a couple of months. Also, she knew when she was full - so she was never overfed - kwim.

Reading another post made me think about this - ok DD was getting avacado, banana, sweet & regular potatoes, green beans and carrots by finger foods too.

Try giving him soft-cooked chunks. DDs love sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli stems and yellow beets.

We combined fruits/veggies too...pears/sweet potatoes, apples/squash. That sort of thing. My dd's really liked mango's. Around 9mos (or shortly after) we started letting them try more of what we were eating.
