Unhappy breastmilk stains appearing in stored clothes???

I just pulled out my newborn clothes that were stored away and was surprised to see many of them had lovely yellow stains on them, even though they were all clean and stain free when I packed them up. I washed them in oxyclean, then dreft hoping to get them out, and it worked for the most part but some are still stained. Has anyone else had this problem? I never fed formula, and exclusively bf so I know these are breastmilk stains. My sister told me there's supposed to be a special detergent/soap to remove the breastmilk stains? Also, does anyone know if I wash all the clothes in oxyclean before storing them next time if I can avoid this happening again?

Yep, mine did the same thing and so did the clothes lent from a friend who b/f'd her son - niether had stains when I put them in storage, but the heat must have made them appear or something - I never did get them out!

I've had the same thing happen on numerous occassions... it's very frustrating!

If the clothing supports it, use the clorox bleach pen to nail those areas. If you don't want to use bleach, poor some white vinegar on the stain, then put some baking soda on it, let it bubble up then sit for awhile, then wash as usual. It will fade some colors, so test the clothing first for colorfastness.

Otherwise...

I had this happen to us too. I pulled out some cute outfits I wanted Taci to wear and there were stains.
I used the old sun trick(that I learned about here)and it worked on all but one outfit.
I first washed the outfits in baking soda and Purex and then hung them out to dry. By time they were dry the stains were gone. The one outfit that still had a stain it was very very faint and DH didn't even notice it

Wow, I never knew that breastmilk could stain! I guess I better look over the clothes I put away of Koltens. That bites, LOL. Are they dark like formula stains or are they lighter?? He spit up ALOT when he was littler..but I love all his teeny tiny clothes.

Yeah, I'd always heard about the wonderfulness (i know made up word.. ) of BF because it didn't stain. I was sooo disappointed when I pulled the clothes out. My son was a turbo nurser because he had to be...the flow was incredible so the milk got everywhere.

Anyway, the stains were more like a yellowish spoiled milk stain(not dark) so they're not real noticable, but they are there.
