Re: How much do you pay a babysitter?

WOW! I need to find some mommas wanting to pay me $10 an hour to watch their cuties!!!

I stay at home with my kids (so I don't use a sitter) but I have always shyed away from the idea of watching someone else's children as I thought the going rate was like $4-$5 an hour!!

I had NO IDEA it was $10 an hour!! YIKES!!

I remember when I was in high school I watched kids for like $2.50 an hour!!

We've not paid a sitter in ages, but I think before we paid 10-15 bucks an hour..

Re: How much do you pay a babysitter?

we pay $6 an hr, and that's been for them just sitting here while DD sleeps. We haven't had a sitter in a long time. Unfortunately we don't get out much w/out DD (I think couples need that time!). We did get my dad and his girlfriend to come and watch DD for a couple of hours while we went to a movie last weekend. Although pretty much the grandparents are not around that much. I used to go stay w/my gramma all the time. That's one thing I wish was different for DD. Ok, I'm rambling

when DS was a newborn, I paid a certified sitter $100 for every 5 days he was watched and he was there 13 hours per day ( I worked 12 hour shifts )

We usually pay between $8-$10/hour (we have 2 children), depending on how much time they actually have to take care of the kids (e.g. if they are sitting from 7-midnight, we'll pay $8, because the kids are in bed by 8:30! During the day, we pay $10/hour).

Re: How much do you pay a babysitter?

In our city in Washington state, the going rate for babysitters is $6 - 8 an hour. So, we pay our neighbor girl (now 15) $7 an hour to watch our one DD.

I had no idea that babysitting rates vary so widely throughout the country, though!! My word, if you pay $15 an hour for babysitting how do you have anything leftover to pay for the date?? At those rates, I'd rather hire a massage therapist to come to my home and give me a massage for an hour and bring me mai tais and sing to me!! LOL
