Pork shoulder

don't eat pork too often, so I was surprised when I came home and there was a huge bag of frozen pork shoulder in our freezer. It's already sliced up, thank goodness. Apparently, MIL often cooks with pork and thought that we would benefit by having it in our freezer. I kid you not...it's twice the size of a regular bowling ball! It could last us forever, since we hardly eat pork.

BUT...we don't want it in there forever, so I need some recipes.

So far, I've decided I can make stir fry with it and drizzle that over white rice. I also found a few slow cooker recipes (pulled pork and BBQ pork) that I can make with it.

Anyone else have any ideas??? TIA!

Re: Pork shoulder

I made this ranch pork the other day and it was awesome! I got the recipe from a friend on another site. It's a crockpot recipe.

Copy and paste from the other site-
one 2 1/2 lb boneless pork shoulder roast
1 lb new red-skinned potatoes,halved
1 10.75 oz can condensed cream of chicken soup (i used 98% fat free)
1 8-oz cream cheese, softened and cut up (again, used fat free)
1 0.4 oz envelope dry ranch dressing mix

1. trim fat from meat.( i seasoned the meat with a basic seasoning all over ) in a large skillet, brown meat on all sides.
2.place potatoes in bottom of slow cooker. (I also added half a sliced onion) Place meat on top of potatoes.
3. In a bowl whisk together soup, cream cheese and dressing mix.spoon over meat and potatoes.
4.cover and cook on low for 9-10 hours or high for 4 1/2-5 hours.

I actually used 4 pork chops in place of the pork roast. I live in thailand and can't get a crockpot large enough for a roast. I just laid the chops on top. It was so good!

Thanks! I'll have to try it! I do love the bacon and ranch chicken recipe in the sticky.
