best cut for a pot roast?

Just wondering what cut of meat you use for your pot roasts? I always forget what to buy. Yeah, I'm sleep deprived and can't think straight.

if your going for the Oven I AGREE chuck is the way to go. HOWEVER if your willing to go the Low and slow way in the Crockpot. go with any cut of meat on sale and it will cook down to a silky goodness that any roast lover would adore

Re: best cut for a pot roast?

I am very against chuck roast. Yuck! It's way too fatty for me. However, I like to cook my roasts on a lower temp for 6-8 hours (in oven or crock). I buy shoulder roasts normally. Typically I will try to get anything that is on sale that isn't fatty. Cooking this long will make them fall apart (some people don't like that) and melt in your mouth.
