Does this sound like Celiac issues?- Long sorry

At the beginning of March he weighed 28lbs now he is at 22lbs
At the beginning of March he got sick, and was put on an antibiotic, which made him vomit; so we were told to stop giving it to him. Well all those symptoms went away and then he got Conjunctivitis; so he was given eye drops to treat that. He would vomit after that, about 3 times.

Now here is the list that he has been having since then:
Extremely tired-wanting to sleep all the time
Lack of Appetite
Conjunctivitis
Vomiting almost every night
Crying because in pain (stomach cramps and also complaining about head)
Black chalky bm (Sunday afternoon-March 29th)
Irritable
Constipated

We went to the ER at Children’s and this is what we found out:

Daniel is SEVERALLY constipated. Your colon is on your right and loops around to the left and then out. The x-ray showed that he is compacted from one end to the other. This might be why he was vomiting; there is no place for the food to go.

We asked what would constipate a child that much when he is on a limited diet to start with, and also the reason for the chalky black poo, and she said that would be a GI question.

They did a full blood work which they had to do 3 times. The first time- took 3 vials, by the time it made it down to the lab one of the vials had already clotted! (this has happened before with him). So they came back up and drew blood again. The nurse took that down personally. Then they tried to use 1 vial for 2 different tests; the result was: his CBC test which calculates your platelets was 38. They are supposed to be 150 or above. So, hence the 3rd prick in the finger; it came back 376.

They have an inflammation test that they can do through blood work and all those came back rather high. Which leads them to think he has Celiac Disease and/or something else that is inflaming his GI track.
So he still has his GI appointment for the 13th of April and we will schedule for his second upper/lower GI and colonoscopy and Celiac test and whatever other test.

He still might have crohn’s disease, but probably won’t be able to test that unless he has another inflammation. Also the youngest they have been able to diagnose is 3 years old.

He got a hold of 2 cheese puffs from his papa’s house last night which resulted in him up all night screaming and vomiting again. Grrrr…..

I just wanted to send hugs. I don't know too much about Celiac's, so I am not much help there. I do know that my ped was concerned about it with both my girls (the were both FTT at some point). So, they checked it out, along with other things, but nothing was ever determined. I hope that you get some answers soon, I know it can be a stressful time.

he got blood work done on the 13th to check for celiac and crohn's.

The doctor is treating it as GERD, and then i'm supposed to give him mineral oil every day.

I still think it is celiac, my mom has it and i'm 95% sure that i have it.

then i would be treating him as he had it until further notice if they already did the antibody screen. can't be GF before test or it gives a false negative.

Easiest way to find out: eliminate all foods with gluten in it and see if it doesn't help.
I was having some major GI issues a few years ago, and they thought celiac's too. My doc put me on the celiac diet right away because I couldn't get into a specialist for months. My symptoms cleared right up! However, after a biopsy of my intestine and 2 blood tests (1 while on the celiac diet, 1 while not) and all has come back negative. I do eat breads, pastas and whatnot now, but in moderation. I know that whole grains don't upset my stomach nearly as much as white breads/pastas.
I would simply switch him to a celiac diet, and see how he does. You'll have to become a label reader because gluten is in EVERYTHING, including most soups. Try to increase his fiber at the same time via veggies and beans to help move things along for him.
HTH's. Good luck

no worries there. He is allergic to citric acid, lactose, red#40, blue, and also preservatives. So i've been doing that for a little over a year now.
