I have run in to this with my nieces and nephews. they are either interested and want to ask about it, or visibly uncomfortable because they are nearing puberty and still want to ask about it. Either way i say the same stuff and act open and honest. Good luck mama!

I agree with you mama . For me personally If I nurse in public I just make sure I don't show anything but it's very rare for me to do so, generally I bring a bottle of expressed milk if I'm going to be gone for a long time. But this is for my personal comfort mostly.

Re: Not allowed on Field Trip if I breastfeed

With my first child, I never nursed in public...I just didn't feel comfortable. But with my daughter, if we are out and she's hungry, I will cover up and feed her. Usually it happens when we are at my son's mom and tot class, but then I figure...these are other moms, I'm sure they understand. Hey, it's either that or stay home, and I wouldn't want to take that activity away from my son. Most other public places I won't breastfeed in public though. We have a conversion van as one of our cars, and if I had to, I would take her and feed her there (there's lots of room and blinds on all the windows).

But I find it kind of shocking that a teacher would tell you that you're not allowed to come because of breastfeeding...that's a little ridiculous.

They couldn't do anything if you happened to just show up at the same time and your baby wanted to nurse. How stupid.....

This really makes me wonder if she doesn't understand all the benefits of breastfeeding, you know? Because if she did there is no way she would ask you not to come if you were going to breastfeed! Kids should know how beneficial it is, anyway. They need good examples.

How upsetting. I'd make a fuss over it with the school.

That is insane! I'm also surprised that a school would allow you to bring your baby to a field trip. When I was teaching kindergarten, parents were not even allowed to bring a younger sibling to volunteer in the class because of liability. (not my call) Give us an update with the resoultion!

I would be so mad! I think I would bring it up to the principal at the school and take it from there. There is nothing "inappropriate" about nursing a hungry baby! What would be inappropriate is to not feed her!
