Car Seat Experts

Is it true that you don't put a child in a carseat if their head is higher then the back of the seat?
We bought new carseats today, and Ian's head was higher then all the carseats(including the marathon)expect for the graco turbo booster seat. Ian is 6 years old, weighs 46lbs and is 4ft 5inches tall

Re: Car Seat Experts

it depends on the maual some say top of the ears at the shell and thats the max hight read your manual also if hes that tall then his shoulders would probably be over the top slots, good luck!

Re: Car Seat Experts

A car seat is outgrown forward facing when either the shoulders are higher than the top harness slots or the ears are level with the top of the shell or if the child passes the approved weight - whichever comes first.

A seat is outgrown rear facing when there is less than 1" of shell above the head or the baby passes the weight limits of the seat - whichever comes first.

Torso growth does slow at this age, so it depends on how the straps fit... you may be better off going with a regent though if you'd like to keep him harnessed as long as possible.

Re: Car Seat Experts

Totally go for the Regent, I just got one for DS and he was almost outgrown his FF carseat (due to weight) but when he sits in his new Regent, I am amazed at how much room he has to go! He uses it on the 2nd to smallest setting so I KNOW he will be in it forever.
