Wool for longies and such?

How much wool does it typically take to make a pair of longies? Something like 4 skeins will make a pair of any size, right? Forgive the questions, I'm new to wool and I really want to try a pair.

Tonya, nurse wife to Matt, mother to Donovan (8/13/06), and baby Jacob (9/24/10), and our newest addition, Ava Elaine (5/10/12). Thank you God for my wonderful family.

Re: Wool for longies and such?

Hi! Are you knitting or crocheting? What brand of yarn (or what weight - worsted, etc...)? It varies widely w/ different brands of yarn, but if you're using worsted-weight wool, 8 oz is almost always enough for anything except an XL (that's more like 10 oz, at least for me).

You can go by weight or yardage. 8 oz or 440 yards is sort-of my "yarn buying rule" in general
