Re: so frustrated....ins gripe
hmm i didn't realize that. the only reason they gave us for the rate jack up was how much the ins comp rec'd in claims last year for that company alone. i know that a guy that my dh works with, his wife and kids have ins through the same ins comp but don't go through his work and pay less than half of what we pay. so we'll probably still use the same ins after the baby is born, just go through it privately though.

YA! Where i work, it is almost all childbearing-age women(social work), and our premiums are SKY HIGH because maternity costs are ridiculous, and thats' where the vast majority of our money goes!!! I so hate this, especially since like 90% of women don't even need an OB or a hospital........it really PISSES me off that my ins premiums are ridiculous because the ins company has to shell out close to $20grand a pop for C/Sections, at least 80% of which are totally UNEEDED. And then they won't cover my $2000 for the entire pregnancy, prenatals, birth and postpartum visits that my homebirth midwife chanrges! Peeved. Irked.

Re: so frustrated....ins gripe
i never thought about the fact that they cover expensive a$$ hospitals and ob's but not MW's. personally i use an ob (the office has several mw's too though that i just adore), i have preterm labor issues though. anyhow i knew that most ins won't cover mw's but never thought about it in terms that mw's are much cheaper...you'd think the ins company would be more than happy to cover a mw's fees!!!! grrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!
i also 100% agree that the majority of all c-sections are unnecessary. it really peeves me when women just opt for them for no reason....each to their own though i guess. i also think sometimes ob's suggest a c-section for unnecessary things. but we won't go into that...i don't want to T anyone off right now haha. |
