This is prob a stupid question but... I have some fitteds that aren't "stuffable". Can I just lay an insert in it?

MF is not good next to the skin ,, but i think you can get doublers that are cotton that can go next to the skin

Yep, but then it's officially called a doubler, just to confuse you

Anything but MF is fine

I use a MF towel in mine and cover it with fleece.
