Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
It depends, I've heard that you can walk around and be 5cm and not even know it. Odd huh?
I've been 1cm since 27 weeks, now I'm 36 weeks and I'm 1.5cm and 50% effaced. Only 4 more weeks!

Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
Might sound odd but I actually like hearing this. It makes me a whole lot less anxious!! A friend of mine that is due shortly after me with her first and she is 2cm and 50% and has been for 2 weeks but still keeps prancing around trying to rub in my face that her baby is comeing.. Honestly my baby can stay in past due date! Im not ready for him yet! I would love to go into labor on my own I was induced the other 2 times..

Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
Well, i think the more dilated you are to begin with, the quicker and easier your labor is going to be!

Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
I was around a 5, midwife said stretchy 4, after labor started at 36.5 weeks. Labor stopped after a few hours and I than held the baby in until 41.5 weeks but labor was only about 2 hours long and with the last hour being pushing. It was nice because right when it started to hurt it was pushing time and the pain seems to go away when I push. So min. pain, only like one painful contraction and that is it, the rest were just uncomfy.

Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
I was 2cm at 32 weeks and was 6cm stretchy to a 7 at 37 weeks. I didn't go into labor on my own, the doctors felt if I was that far along it would be best to induce my labor then. I think I could have gone another week or so. Labor was 12hrs from when my water was broken, so not so bad. But it sure wasn't easy, ds was a chunk at 9.2

Re: How long can I be at 3cm dilated?
thanks for the replies, ladies. I was hoping that being at 3 cm would be a good sign that I would not make it to my induction this Friday but it looks like plenty of you were dilated further for even longer. I have to be induced because of the baby's size. My first was 8 lbs 13 oz and I tore horribly with major bleeding and we are hoping to avoid that this time. I really wanted to go into labor on my own but hopefully I still will. OR maybe my induction will be easier and I will just need a little push.
