Replacing velcro in BumGenius?

I have a bunch of bumgenius pocket diapers, they are my favorite and the velcro doesn't seem to stay attached. I can put the diaper on but as soon as my son moves you can hear it come unattached.
I'm assuming that the velcro has just gotten old and no longer sticks to one another. Is there a way of replacing the velcro w/out ruining the diaper and the PUL material?

Yes, you can replace the velcro (I haven't done it myself). You can contact Cottonbabies through their site and request tab replacement kits. They will send them to you for free. If you don't want to replace them yourself GAMommy2CBCS on here does a great job and is quick!

I haven't done it yet, but I did just get my free tab replacement kits from Cotton Babies. I would think you can just pick the stitches out and restitch the new ones. Good luck!

Re: Replacing velcro in BumGenius?

I've actually been doing it on some old BG 2.0 and its really easy. The worst part is taking out all the stiching. Right now I'm not even sewing them back but using a liquid stich fabric glue and it holds really well. Cotton Babies sent me free replacement materials very quickly so I was pretty impressed with thier customer service.

I didn't know you could get free replacement kits! I think I'm going to have mine converted to snaps. A member here does it, I can get you a user name if you're interested.

Tia I am actually converting mine to a combination of velcro and snaps right now. I don't even sew and its pretty easy but it just takes some time. Luckily since I got the free repair kit I've only spend about $40 on all my supplies.

Re: Replacing velcro in BumGenius?

I have replaced the velcro and elastic on a few of my bgos 3.0 diapers. The velcro was a lot easier than the elastic. Cotton babies does have the refresher kit. I emailed them because I got two used diaper from fsot from a mama here and could not find the refresher kit on their website. They actually mailed three of them to me. I have two more diapers sitting on my sewing table waiting for the new velcro but I'm not going to do the laundry tabs. It is pretty easy if you can sew a straight line. There were some tutorials with instructions but I have lost the links. If I find them I will post them unless someone else is able to do so.
